      Awarded to Lt. J.G. Keign Pirandello for extended efforts in the development of two prototype shuttlecraft under development on Starbase 317. After suffering a total system failure the lietenant was left stranded in space for 4 days before long range sensors we able to locate the drifting vessel.
   Meritorious Service Medal
      Awarded to Lt. Keign Pirandello after the review of an incident thought to have endangered the crew and inhabitants of Starbase 288. An in-depth investigation revealed that the manuevers the lieutenant performed to keep his prototype starship from coliding with another vessel on approach to the starbase were responsible for preserving both craft without injury to either ship or the starbase.

Repremands
    Wreckless Endangerment (Expunged by Review - Starfleet Command)
       Lt. Keign Pirandello was suspeneded from service for one month pending the review of this incident. While performing test manuevers in an expirimental starship the lietenant expirenced an engine malfunction, putting the ship on a collision course with Starbase 288 and the USS Avante on docking maneuvers with the station. The lieutenant ordered the launch of two low-yield photon torpedos which detonated in close proximity to the USS Avante and his own ship, forcing both ships off course and bringing the test ship within 18 meters of the starbase in passing.
      Review of ships logs and test data revealed a cascade falure which also affected the ship's tractor beam and impulse drive systems as well others. The decission to launch photon torpedos at another Starfleet vessel proved a well calculated risk. The damage to the USS Avante was minimal despite it's shields being down for docking and the both ships were spared. The starbase suffered no damage in the incident.

Attitude
   Said by most to be an easy going and straight forward individual. While he never seems to have a problem making friends, he tends to become deeply engrossed with his studies and interest, separating him from many social circles.
   He is quite confident in his abilities, to the point of becoming somewhat confrontational when his methods are contradicted. Many of his superior officers have commented on his tendancy to question their orders when his mind it sent on a different course of action. However, most will also agree that he is an obedient officer and will indefinately yield to the chain of command unless in direct conflict of the best interest of others.
Likes
   He spends a great deal of his free time tinkering with 20th and 21st century combustion mechanics. His holodeck program list includes builds for cars, motorcyles, and even a small plane. All but one are currently unfinished.
   His love for ancient combustion mechanics has also lead to an interest in earlier cultures. His quarters often contain relics from the past, including old movie posters, classic cookware, and various artifacts. He also elects to wear eyeglasses instead of having corrective surgery for a minor eye problem he's had since birth.
   Also, he has a habbit of collecting strange and mind altering plantlife from various planets. He boasts a small and healthy collection of varying plantlife in a small atrium in his quarters. Medical evaluation has never revealed the ingestion of any of said substances.
   He also spends a bit of time cooking his own meals using vegitables from his atrium as well as replicated ingredients.
Dislikes
   After having developed his cooking style, he rather dislikes whole replicated foods. He'll ofter prepare his own food anytime he has the means.
   Has a mild fear of surgical proceedures. He's been late on several occassions for regular medical examinations. He has also refused corrective surgery for a minor vision problem that developed late in adolecence.
