Character Information

Character Name: Chance Fawkes

Gender: Male

Age: 25

Species: dark-furred timber wolf

Personality: He is a young witty canine, who is eager to traverse the galaxy and make good friends with everyone and anyone. He is hard pressed to betrayal and doesn't forgive easily. Anyway, he is a good and loyal friend, and will always have the backs of his friends covered when things get sketchy.

Appearance: His fur is mostly dark gray or black, but his front, loins, and the front of his neck and muzzle are a lush crimson. The tips of his toes and fingers are also crimson as is his palms. His hair is a nice lush black with dyed red tips some of which are pulled back into his ponytail, while others are just tied to dangle in front of his face. He usually would wear his collar and necklace on his person, both of which were given to him as good luck charms before he headed off to the Academy. Off duty he usually wears a black denim jacket and black denim shorts that are a bit... revealing had he not wear boxers at the time.

Background: Chance joined Starfleet as an officer as soon as they were old enough to apply. Passing the entrance exams, they entered basic training. Pursuing their studies, they did well in the overall courses. Advancing at a steady rate during schooling, they are now ranked as Ensign. Presently onboard ship, they are recieving broad training in various areas to find the field that suits them best. They are currently assigned to communications and will be working to narrow to one specific portion of that area.

1) Why is my character in Starfleet instead of some cushy civilian job where no one is shooting at them?
He grew up in a somewhat middle-class family. No one in his family has ever left to visit other worlds, but his kind parents had managed to sum up enough money to put him through schooling AND getting him into the Star Fleet. He loves them dearly for such an act and wishes that he will be able to repay them some how for basically sacrificing their own futures for his. He was a great student, but he also had a darker side. He was quick to fists when something was pissing him off, and as such, detention had become a well known friend. Despite his several fights, he has managed to get through schooling and training with no problems.. mostly.

2) Why are they in the position they are in?
Throughout his life he has loved learning new things, and what better way to do such is talk with people. He is quite talkative and has picked up several languages and cultural facts, but he want's to more than just what is on Earth.

3) What makes them good at it?
He seems to have a natural ability to pick up languages within a few days of extensive studying, but manages a week in a less bookworm mode. Either way he seems to have a nack for speaking in general and so was eager in applying for Communications as he figured he would do well in that area of expertise.

4) What duties would they be bad at?
Hmm... Well he is a decent fighter, having been in several fights himself. And he has some knowledge of a bunch of skills. However, not to make him over the top, he hate's being the leader of a group. He he can lead, but he prefers that not everything be his responsibility. Also, ironically, he hate's making group announcements, like standing in front of 100+ people on a stage and stuff. He gets stange fright easily if there are too many people he must speak in front of. [oh this will be fun XD]

5) How is my character different from everyone else on board?
Well... He is a very social and outspoken individual, witty to boot. So he will try and crack some stupid pun any chance he could, and not care what people thought of him based on it. He is sort of a party boy, but a toned down one.

6) What ambitions might my character have (or not have) in thier career in Starfleet?
As far as ambitions he plans to unite the galaxy and hopefully repay his parents by honoring their family name, and let it be known all over the galaxy. However sending money to them would be just as good.

7) Is there anything more important to my character than thier Starfleet career?
He has strong values, such as loyalty, honesty, Truth. If something goes against his moral values he just will not do it. Now if it places his career at risk he will begrudgingly comply, but will most likely hate the person making him do it. However, another exception is that if he doesn't do the action, and that puts his shipmates at risk, he will do said action to save them.

Cool What sorts of things interest my character that might not have anything to do with thier assigned duties?
Hitting the local bar is one of his favorite things to do off-duty. Other than that he is mostly doing his job, sort of, and mainly interesting or different people interest him, almost compelling him to learn about them.

[is this good enough for you guys Cheesy]

Chance joined Starfleet as an officer as soon as they were old enough to apply.

That would be 18 for Terrans.  Then a minimum of four years of studies at Starfleet Academy as a Cadet, and if you pass all your classes the first time, at 22 you can become an Ensign.   A Full Lieutenant would be pushing 30.

-  More soon.

alright changed things around, but i was thinking he might have been good enough to grad at 21, either that or something, otherwise if it really is a problem i'll gladly add the extra year to make him an Ensign

True, he might have, but that would be amazingly exceptional.  Considering currently only 50% of University students graduate in 5 years...  In 300 years with an additional 300 years of knowledge that needs to be gained...   I really don't see anyone just happening to be good enough to coast through SFA in three years.  If your character was driven with a passion for intellectual pursuits, perhaps...  But then they would certainly have developed a number of perferred subject that held their interest.

This bio is good enough as is, but it can always be better.  You do try to answer the questions i asked to see in a bio, but the answers are a bit It sounds like his passion is cultural studies and linguistics.  This might not be condusive to a lot of hard Science and Technology.  Possibly the passion your character has for 'Infinite Diversity' could cause him problems with starfleet's paramilitary structure.

In this timeline, the far bloodier Dominion War has raged for 8 years, only recently quieting down after the Founders have succomb to the protomorphic disease and the Dominion collapsed.  Starfleet is not the place someone would go if they wanted to make friends with everyone.   Your character would have a lot of experience to support the idea that the universe is divided and it will take far more than friendlyness and understanding to unite the universe.  There are people in the universe that just don't want to be united. }}:P

I altered a few things, making him older and changing the way he looks. And hmm... well I suppose his want to unite the species, and the lack of desire to do so in some species would make way for quite the interesting roleplay, no?

Character names are entirely seperate from Second Life names.  We require that they are different in fact.  Not only are most SL names unsuitable or incredibly awkward for starship crews, we also are better able to promote multiple characters with less constrained names if they are not the same as their SL names.

We have our own scripts and tools, one is floating text that shows your character's name, rank and position.  So if you want to keep your original character name of Chance or create a new name for your character that is fine, but using your SL Avatar name is not the way to go.

Just that?  Nah, everybody decides who they want as friends and enemies.  The fun part is how your character decides who is on which list!

... So... Now that he is a wolf, and judging from the name a Terran.   Not an Alpha temperment or even Beta, more of a mid-rank wolf.   Of course that is using feral terms to describe a rather civilized fur.

Oh not to keep nitpicking, but money is not what gets people into Starfleet.  Money is hardly used anymore after all, Picard had to be pressed to admit money still exists...  What gets people into Star Fleet Acadamy is a combination of Passion, Talent and normally Values.... But then again Starfleet has been far less picky as fewer and fewer people apply to join.
